Register Control offers savings potential

SENSOTEC▪ In order to ascertain to which degree the use of a registration control carries advantages, the label printing firm X-label ek print in Lübbecke/D precisely documented the increased consumption over a long period. Production on a machine model Gallus EM 280 was compared during this time both before and after the installation of a registration control from SensoTec. When the printing company purchased two of these models two years ago, it was not yet possible to factory equip this type of machine with a register control. Later, it was possible to supply the EM 280 model-series standard with an integrated register control right from the factory. For X-label ek print, the question of retrofitting a register control then arose. The Braunschweig company SensoTec, which supplies the register control to Gallus with which the machines are equipped at the factory, also offers retrofitting.

After the decision to retrofit was made and installation of the register controls had taken place over a year ago, Klaus Dirkes, production manager at X-label ek print, and Dr. Willhelm Koller, managing director of SensoTec took stock in September 2004. As Klaus Dirkes explained, the printing company very exactly recorded the usage of materials before and after the installation of the registration control. The result shows by using the register control ca. EUR 50,000 can be saved per year and machine in the material costs alone. "We are very satisfied with the results," says Klaus Dirkes, "and on top of that, the register control proved to be very reliable and easy to operate."

A Gallus EM 410S with servo technology recently put into operation by X-label ek print is also equipped with a SensoTec register control. According to Dr. Wilhelm Koller, this register control is being used worldwide in several hundred label-printing machines. It can make a substantial contribution to the economic efficiency of a company. As an impressive piece of evidence, he can state that one user has equipped no less than 18 label printer machines with SensoTec register controls in one single location.
